Product detailed description
The theme of the 5th issue of TAUKO magazine is WOOL. Woolen fabrics, which have accompanied humanity for thousands of years, are part of our collective memory. The modern world presents us with a host of ethical challenges. In the case of wool, which we as humans began to acquire only thanks to animals, this ethics is both alive and pressing. Tauko magazine conveys a love for wool from a perspective where conscious respect for the basic material is linked with craftsmanship, and it brings us back to the fundamental relationship between humans and animals.
The sensation we experience when touching a fabric is a fundamental perception, and it is also a carrier of a memory trace. In the case of wool, this trace is very strong. An image of sheep's wool evokes a corresponding response in the brain. Softness and roughness, fluffiness and lightness... Working with raw sheep's wool, felting, and the feeling of a woolen coat - all of this is encoded in probably the oldest, reptilian part of our brain. Let the articles and essays inspire you, and let the patterns help you find your way.
