Product detailed description
Bamboo jersey in its unbrushed version as French terry is surprisingly heavy in weight. It will work beautifully for sturdier t-shirts with folded sleeves, for example. Dresses can also turn out very nice if you like sewing them from jersey fabrics.
From a sustainability perspective, bamboo is a great material. It grows rapidly and abundantly without the need for fertilizers. Its natural antibacterial properties reduce the need for pesticides. Bamboo has a complex root system, self-regenerates, and does not require replanting after harvesting. Bamboo fiber is more resistant to bacterial growth (up to 60% more so than cotton).
The production of bamboo fiber is similar to the process for viscose made from other natural raw materials, involving dissolution in an alkaline solution and subsequent extrusion through a nozzle.
The fabric may have up to 4% residual shrinkage. It's recommended to wash at lower temperatures (30°C) and avoid using a dryer.
